What is Applied Animal Behavior?
Applied animal behavior focuses on understanding why behavior occurs and developing evidence-based strategies that improve welfare, safety, and long-term outcomes.

Assess
Assessment of behavior consist of functional analysis of behavior (what function does the behavior serve) and case review (medications, welfare, etc.).
Understand
Once behavior and welfare have been assessed we can start to understand the behavior within the context in which it occurs.

Improve
After learning the function of the behavior, the context of the behavior, and what is being communicated by the behavior we can implement more desirable behaviors which serve the same function.
